What to put on a wedding website

Guests have three questions: where, when, and what do I wear. Everything else is decoration.

Every function, not just the wedding

List the roka, tilak, haldi, mehndi, sangeet, the ceremony itself and the reception, each with its own date, start time and venue. Guests invited to two of six need to see which two.

Arrival time, not just start time

A muhurat at 7:10pm means guests should arrive by 6:30. Say so. It is the single most useful line on the page.

A map that opens

Paste a Google Maps link for each venue. "Behind the old petrol pump" is how people actually navigate, so add the landmark too.

Dress code per function

Haldi ruins clothes. People want to be told.

Where out-of-town guests sleep

Hotel names, the block booking code, and roughly what it costs. This removes most of the phone calls.

One RSVP per ceremony

A single yes or no for the whole wedding is useless to whoever is ordering food.

A number to call

Not yours. A cousin who has agreed to field questions.
